Top 10 Wedding Trends I expect to see in 2025 | From a UK Wedding Videographer

2024 was my first full year of filming weddings for a living and it's been a whirlwind! I've had the privilege of filming so many unique and beautiful wedding days including an intimate village church ceremony, a celebration at a Cambridge college and a wonderful day at Bolton Priory! Each wedding has been so different, yet I’ve noticed some trends emerging this year and it’s been so much fun to see!

Here are the top 10 wedding trends I noticed in 2024 that I expect we might see even more of in 2025.

Evening dresses

One trend that's been gaining momentum this year is the bride changing into a second dress for the evening so she can relax and dance the night away! I've never worn one myself, but having carried quite a few wedding dresses to set up shots, they are often very heavy. A lot of brides still seem to want the traditional big, long dress for their ceremony but when the dancing starts, they want to swap into a shorter, lighter dress.

Wedding content creators

I wrote a whole post about this (here) but this year has seen a rise in couples booking content creators for their day. Content creators are there to get the short form, social media ready videos and photos. Content creators make a great addition to traditional wedding photography and vidoegraphy. As a wedding videographer, I love this shift toward capturing moments in new ways, and I’m sure we’ll see even more of this trend in 2025.

Sustainable and eco friendly suppliers

Sustainability has become a significant focus for many couples. They’re choosing suppliers who prioritise eco friendly practices, from using recycled materials to sourcing local, seasonal flowers. It’s excellent to see couples being mindful of their wedding’s impact, and I hope this trend continues to grow in 2025.

Personal vows

If you follow me on social media, you'll know I love a wedding where the couple choose to do personal vows. It's beautiful when I can narrate a love story in the couples own words. These heartfelt moments add so much depth to a ceremony and I hope to see more of this.

Unique favours

So many couples are moving away from the traditional mints or chocolates as wedding favours. In 2024 I've seen some amazing favours that say something about the couple or their story. Some of my favourites this year were personalised tambourines and handmade flags, both of which the guests had a great time with during the reception!

Smaller weddings

The trend toward smaller, more intimate weddings has continued in 2024. Many couples are choosing to celebrate with their closest friends and family rather than inviting extended family or friends of friends. Not only does this create a more personal atmosphere, but it’s also a practical way to manage costs.

Mismatched bridesmaid dresses

Coordinated but not identical bridesmaid dresses have been a popular choice this year. Allowing bridesmaids to pick styles and fits that suit their body types while sticking to a unified colour palette is a great way to highlight your wedding party without putting everyone in matching outfits. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

Bold colour palettes

Neutral tones can be timeless, but bold and vibrant colour schemes have been making a splash this year. From bright florals to statement decor like disco balls, couples are embracing colour in creative ways. Your wedding should reflect your personality, and bold palettes are a great way to make a statement. Don't forget, it doesn't matter if your theme dates your wedding as long as it was everything you wanted at the time you planned your day.

Neon signs

Custom neon signs are becoming a must have item for many weddings in 2024. Whether displaying the couple’s surname or a meaningful phrase, these signs add a modern and playful touch. I also love that many couples keep these to display at home as a reminder of the day!

Unplugged ceremonies

As a wedding videographer, I love seeing unplugged ceremonies where guests are asked to put away their phones and be fully present. There’s something so special about everyone being in the moment.

Did you incorporate any of these trends into your wedding day or is there any you wish you had? Let me know!

Looking ahead to 2025, I can’t wait to see these trends evolve and discover what new ideas couples will bring to their celebrations.
